I have receved a few notes about how I run and keep up with my clubs so instead of answering all of them I decided to make a journal entry about it. I don't want to go into a lot of details so I'll make sure to keep this as simple as possible.
-Before you start any club make sure their isn't already a club for whatever you want. Do a little looking around DA or here clubSEARCH. If the club is made but has been unactive for over a year, leave the owner a comment asking if it is dead. If so, ask if you can take it over or go ahead and make a new one.
-Make sure the name of you clubs tells people exactly what the club is about. It is so annoying when you look at a clubs name and can't understand what it means.
-Make sure the club avatar also shows people what the club is about. It should have the club's name in it and something that brings the eyes to it. That way people look!
-The club's signature should have a nice comment about the club maybe even a little joke to bring people your way.
-You should have a ton of favorites for the club. People will show up to say thanks and also if they already made a picture that had something to do with the club, they might join. Make sure the favorites are set on random so everyone gets to see more art.
-Don't make the club about yourself. This is a club for everyone on DA and no one really wants to know what your favorite color is and if they do they will go to your page.
-Design the layout so that the journal is the first thing people see. This way no one will have to look around to find things out. If the club has an ID (which is a really good idea) you can have it under the journal or somewhere people can see it quickly.
-Tell people not to ask to join on the main page. It can be really confusing and you might add the same person twice on the members list.
-When people want to join, it's fun to make up weird things they have to say before they are allowed in. This will make sure everyone knows how to follow rules.
-Having only one owner for a popular club can be a little overwhelming. When you just start out, one person is enough but it is good to have others that you trust to help you out when you start to get more and more attention.
-Don't give your club's password to just anyone. Make sure he/she is someone that you can depend on to run the club the way you intended.
-Always make sure the club has links to whomever runs it accounts so that people can ask you/them questions
-The journal is one of the most important things for a club so make sure it draws eyes to it. If you can, get a paid account and make it really nice.
-It is really smart to make a few unused journals before you do anything. These might come in handy later in the clubs lifetime
-Make sure the journal is easy to read and neat. No one wants to spend twenty minutes looking for the "how to join" rules. It would help to have links to other journals to make it more organized but not too many.
-The first thing in the journal should be what the club is about. The title tells a little but give people more details about what your club's purpose is.
-Rules for the club, how to join/affiliate/submit art, and how to add the clubs icon/link should be the main focus of the journal. If someone has to go to five different pages to find just a few things, they might think it's not worth it and leave.
-You might want to have a lot of fancy fonts or emotions all throughout your journal but doing so will do nothing but annoy people. Make it simple but not too boring. A few every now and then will do a lot for the clubs image. Neatness is next to Godlyness!
-Keep the clubs members/affiliate in their own part of the journal. They don't have to be in all the clubs journals. Having their own, will make it easier to find things.
-When the club is updated, try to make the updates in the journal people see when they first come to the account. It's annoying to have a new journal for nothing.
-A good way to make links to other journals or websites is using this code:
Name of Link
-When you think of a new idea for a club go ahead and make another. If you don't want to do this you can put the idea in a journal on your account.
-If you do make more than one club don't forget to add your clubs to your main account so that your friends learn about them.
-It's a good idea to have a pattern for your clubs. If you look at mine, you will see that they all follow the same rules and such. This will show people that you are the owner even before they see your icon.
-The same pattern will also make it easier for people to join your new club if they already know where the rules and such are.
-Don't overwhelm yourself with tons of clubs. Giving some away to be owned by your friends is a good idea as well as having admins to care for them when you cannot.
-The art in the club's gallery should not only follow the rules of the club but also the rules of dA. If the staff find out something is posted that is against the rules, your club might be suspended or even banned.
-A webcam can do a lot for the club. It is very nice to have a funny picture about the club's subject but make sure it is not too big.
-As for the comments on the front page, if you don't want to reply back to these don't block them becuase some might think it's becuase you aren't a really nice person or that the club is inactive.
-Do not support spammers or do it yourself. This will give your club a bad name.
-It's really smart to add your club to the list all over DA. The same goes for affiliates. The more you have the more people will stop by.
-Make sure you do not have a lot of mispellings or poor grammer issues. This will make the club sloppy looking and everyone will think you don't know what you're doing. (lol, stfu, wtf, ty and others should be avoided as much as possible)
-Contests should be fun and not forced on the members. Don't make a journal saying "WE NEED ENTRIES NOW" or something on those lines. No one will enjoy this. There should also be some prize for the winner(s). If you don't have anything, just add the art to the clubs featured deviation.
That's all I can come up will for now. If I think of anything else I will update. Any questions should be asked in the comments part of this journal. Thank you and I hope I helped!

Although not all of the information you put up there is 100% true it's still pretty good.
For example when I made this club I knew of two other big cat clubs, but they just seemed so boring and distant from all their members.
Also having one founder for a popular club isn't really that hard. A good friend of mine runs a VERY popular death note club they now have over 300 members and she's still running it alone she even had a contest and still managed to run the club very well!
Good luck with all your clubs. I hope you can cope with all of them!
